ALL ABOUT CUSTOMERS CHOICE AND CONVENIENCE

Have you ever thought about buying grocery products without leaving your car? Here is another convenient choice for customers to shop that Sears and Kmart are offering.

Since number of people using smartphone is sky

rocketing, firms see an opportunity to create a new channel to shop. Sears and Kmart are example here. They provide customers buy-online-pickup-in-store, which customers can place orders online using either computer or smartphone through app on iPhone, Android and Blackberry and then they go to pick up their orders at stores. Also, customers could text a message to the retailers when they are at parking lot and they will bring your order out to you.

This service is powered by “mygofer.” Customers are able to download the app for free. To pay for orders customers can pay online or via mobile using any major debit or credit card and Paypal.

All this convenient service is your choice!!!

  1. While I do agree that these new service options are convenient for shoppers, there are some risks I could see with this. For example, non-perishable items such as fruits and vegetables could be damaged or not in the condition buyers were hoping for. Because of this, buyers in the future may seem reluctant to use this services again.

  2. Yes, I do agree with that. I still don't know how the store will cope with this issue. However, this service is such a good idea that makes customers' life more convenient. You can try this service and see if it works for you or not. It could be judged by having an experience with this.

  3. Interesting technology. This is posing several questions: Who receives the messages? Is it one person who has to pick up the goods and deliver them outside in the parking lot? How do you staff your business then? Do you hire new people or do you have your existing cashier suddenly leaving because he/she got a text message? I see it more as a backstage service. Customers order online and then they can pick it up after they receive a sms back. I don't think it will be efficient to deliver goods in the parking lot. I could image a drive through counter.

  4. Yes. Customers can pick up products by driving through counters. Mygofer provides a lot of products customers can think of such as mattress and appliances. They could also shop products at Costco for you which no Costco membership is required because they are Costco membership. So customers can save $50 membership a year. There are two pickup locations for now in Seattle - one at Kmart in North Seattle and one at Kmart in Kent. To make customers more convenient, they now do delivery products to customers' houses. However, this service is provided only in major cities.
